Thomas J. Kowalski, Vedder Price PC Shareholder and member of the firm's Intellectual Property group has been in practice for nearly 30 years, focusing on biotech, chemical and medical apparatus litigation, patent prosecution, licensing and counseling. He is admitted to practice before the Courts of the State of New York, the Federal District Courts for the Eastern, Western and Southern Districts of New York, the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, the US Supreme Court and the USPTO. He earned ACS Certified BS in Chemistry from New York University and his Juris Doctor Cum Laude from St. John's University. For the ACS certification, Mr. Kowalski studied graduate biochemistry, graduate inorganic chemistry, genetics and computer science, and conducted laboratory research, both as part of his degree program and pursuant to a NSF-URP Grant, with the results of his research under the NSF-URP Grant published in the Journal of Organic Chemistry. He has also appeared before courts and in proceedings throughout the world, including the UK, The Netherlands, Germany, Austria; and Japan. He has co-authored numerous publications and has been an invited speaker at C5 conferences, IBC Life Sciences conferences, PLI courses; and ACI courses. Mr. Kowalski is recognized as one of the New York Super Lawyers and named in International Who’s Who of Patent Attorneys for 2010-2011 and 2011-2012. He received an AV Preeminent Peer Rating in Martindale-Hubbell. Mr. Kowalski is also an Adjunct Professor teaching intellectual property law at New York University's Brooklyn Campus (Polytechnic Institute of New York University) as part of the Master's Degree in Management Program.
